My Landlord’s Wife !!!

Its been close to three months since I shifted to this new rented house. The owner of house has a small family with two kids and wife. Since the day i entered in house till past month i had a big curiosity and question mark in my head and that was, where is his wife ?

Being a typical nosy Indian, I cooked N number of stories based on films and fantasies about his wife. He is a decent man who frequently talks about his wife. Nothing personal though, just general stuffs. Like he went to water park with his wife and kids and it was enjoyable trip, etc etc.

My mind never stopped in imagining and building all sort of stories giving reasons for absence of his wife from house and why he talks so much about her.

However, the twist in story starts from night he said he wish to share something with me regarding his wife. My eyes blinked and I thought from inside that finally there’s the moment to pat your back as you already know the reality (as i use to imagine lot many stories, thanks to indian cinema and TV Serials ).

In UK, government have made strict rules for parenting, which lays down lot many restrictions and rules for parents in upbringing their child. One of the harshest law says that parents can’t beat there children. Now beating here means even slapping or shouting at them. The kids are being trained and mentally prepared in schools in such a way that they report every single incident to their school if they feel they have been intimidated. And then the school can report to social services which can then further take actions which could even lead to jail.

The eldest one is ten now. One day he was doing something wrong probably and his mom scolded him and then gripped his hand probably too hard which left mark on his hand. The kid was crying when he reached school. The teacher asked the story and he said that mom has beaten him. The school teacher as she has been trained by law, called up social services and informed them about the incident. She didn’t even once used her wisdom and thought herself that she too is a teacher and there are situations when children do need some scolding. Don’t take me wrong but I come from typical Indian family where my father use to beat me for every mistake and this is how i learnt stuffs.I Love my father and my family have nothing against them:) and i believe most of us Asians are brought up in same way.

Anyways, the husband was at work and he received call from school and was asked to report to school immediately as its very urgent. He couldn’t understand what’s the situation is and left for school.

After an hour when he reached school, he was asked to go home. So when he drove back to home and opened his door, he saw policemen and few other people in his house. Kids were in separate room, wife was with police and he was taken in separate room. After an hour of questioning and interviewing, the wife was taken in custody for beating her child.

Now this is the story of my landlord’s wife. I was literally shocked to hear. Now the situation is that wife can’t come to her own house and can’t see her own children for a year. She has to clear some interviews in between and have to complete course on parenting and after that court would decide whether she can be with her own children or not.

I won’t say and comment anything about the law but would surely say that biggest loser in this story is children. Same children who were tried to be protected. They are missing their mother at such a crucial phase when they really need her.

Husband has lost his wife and forced to stay alone. I literally see this broken family every day and night. Children seems to have realised and have matured i guess before their age. This is the age when kids should go out, play around and do all sorts of crazy things but these kids are so conscious about general stuffs even that i feel sorry for them. I feel sorry because I am watching children losing their childhood.

A son has lost his mother. A husband has lost his wife and above all a mother has lost her children.

Rules are meant for betterment of society not to break families… !!

  1. Oh shit!! This is what happens there 😦 really sad for the mum and the husband who keeps missing her and the children too.. May be this law is sometimes fair but certainly this is not the case 😦
