As an Indian when we talk about Kashmir, we have only two pictures one is Heaven on earth and Second is Militancy infested Kashmir.
Isn’t it right ? Correct me if I am wrong. How many of you are not scared or rather how many of us don’t have a doubt that Kashmir is an alienated land which doesn’t wish to stay with India.
Is that’s how we are suppose to form an opinion of an state which we say heaven on earth ?
I spent around two weeks in Kashmir. I went there all alone. Didn’t do any homework about my boarding and lodging neither I had anyone in valley. Yet I came back all alive, happy and healthy. Yes this is what Kashmir is and Kashmiri people are. They don’t eat neither they torture as you have come from India !!
Kashmir is a land which has been misunderstood till date. The people of Kashmir has been portrayed as devils rather let’s put appropriate word which you guys are use to. They have been called, mocked, judged and defined as anti nationals. Some even go to an extent calling them militants.
Don’t take me wrong, but that’s how we have been taught and showed.
Now let me narrate my experience of Kashmir. I found this state to be no less different from my own Uttar Pradesh, a state full of corruption, no development, lack of infrastructure, unemployment and lack of apathy from government.
Yes !! This is how Kashmir is, just like us. Government of India and Government of J&K have failed to understand expectation of people. They have failed to address the basic issues of roads, water, hospitals, employment, electricity, etc.
Can you imagine, Srinagar which is capital of J&K does not have even a single road with potholes? Saw so many construction works on road left in between on roads. When enquired, people told its happening since past two years. Damn, government can’t even provide roads here. But they would always blame if people raise their voice.
Kashmir and Kashmiris are literally reeling under pressure from 2014 floods. Whatever, people had they lost in flood and now they all are praying god to show them some miracle as government hasn’t winked since past 65yrs or so.
The people of Kashmir have literally nowhere to go. They are facing apathy of government since ages I will call.
Kashmir majorly relies on tourism and yet government has been playing hand in hand with separatist and all those who don’t want Kashmir to flourish. Time has come, when Government of India need to understand that Kashmir and it’s people are no different from any other Indian state. They too have same aspirations of security, good amenities, basic facilities and employment.
And as a citizen of India, you all can help your fellow brothers of Kashmir, by once visiting Kashmir and understand what they are facing. Media has been showing a manipulated picture of Kashmir.
There’s so much to write and so much to say when I think about Kashmir. I guess I need little bit more time to write on it.
But all I will say that my heart too bleeds for my brothers, my family of Kashmir.
Kashmiris needs to write blogs like u.
