The events happening around the globe on the name of religion has made me to come forward and speak that whatever is happening is not the real face of Islam. It’s way beyond understanding of all those who kill people by proclaiming that their God is supreme.

I still remember very well, how Syed Uncle use to tell stories. He became part of our extended family. His two son’s Saman and Maman are Rakhi Brother of my younger sister. They have probably taken care of my sister more than I have. And yes i proudly say that they are part of my family.

I remember the story of my college days, when we found out that Neeraj was in love with Zehra. They carried their relationship for more than 10 years and finally got married. Zehra, a highly faithful, committed and a career oriented girl who dreamt of partner not on basis of religion but qualities. I still salute her courage and commitment. Hard to find girls like her. She is true gem.

So many memories are flashing now and faces of so many people with whom I have spend considerable amount of time are coming in front of my eyes. They all are family man or woman. They might have their own traditions and way of worshiping but that never stopped them to treat me in different manner.

As far as my understanding goes, a muslim is a common man just like me and you. They too are family oriented and sincere people. These dastardly acts and heinous crimes should never be a synonymous of Islam and muslim.

It pains, it hurts me as well not only because some one is killed in some terrorist attack but because my close friends, associates, people i love and respect are being bracketed with fanatics and lunatics.

When Mahwish brought lunch for me first time, the food I ate was as homely as my mother use to cook for me. When Yasemin called me to her place, I never felt I am with someone who would treat me different from her own family. When I speak with Irfan Bhai, I not even once get a feeling that he is of different faith.

These experiences and people I talked about follow different faith and yet they are as comfortable with me, as i am with them. We may have different opinions, different faiths, we may even eat different food but at the end of the day we are all humans. Let’s not make a religion bigger than humanity. And let’s not stereotype religion.

It would be a sin if we as a mature and intelligent humans link a religion, a faith with any crime of terrorism. Terrorist have no religion, no faith. They are shame on name of humanity.

Let’s be Humans. Lets be mature. Lets be wise and Lets be true with each other.
